Description
This indulgent pasta dish features tender cheese tortellini coated in a luxurious, creamy sauce made with Parmesan, Romano, and a hint of nutmeg. It’s quick, easy, and perfect for a comforting meal at home.
Ingredients
- 1 pound cheese tortellini
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup grated Romano cheese
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
1️⃣ Cook the tortellini:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the cheese tortellini and cook according to the package instructions until tender. Drain and set aside.
2️⃣ Sauté the garlic:
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, or until fragrant. Be careful not to let it brown.
3️⃣ Prepare the sauce:
Pour in the heavy cream, stirring gently, and bring it to a gentle simmer. Gradually whisk in the Parmesan and Romano cheeses until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
4️⃣ Add seasoning:
Stir in the ground nutmeg for a subtle warmth. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
5️⃣ Combine pasta and sauce:
Add the cooked tortellini to the skillet, tossing gently to ensure the pasta is evenly coated with the creamy sauce.
6️⃣ Serve and garnish:
Transfer the creamy cheese tortellini to serving plates or bowls. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired. Serve immediately while warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Cheese swap: If you don’t have Romano cheese, you can substitute with extra Parmesan or Pecorino Romano for a similar flavor.
- Add-ins: For extra flair, toss in cooked spinach, mushrooms, or grilled chicken to make the dish heartier.
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently over low heat, adding a splash of cream or milk to restore the sauce’s consistency.
