Ingredients
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Optional toppings: sliced pickles, shredded cheese, coleslaw
Instructions
1️⃣ Cook the vegetables: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced bell pepper and onion, and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened.
2️⃣ Add the garlic: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
3️⃣ Cook the chicken: Add the ground chicken to the skillet. Break it up with a spoon and cook until it’s no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
4️⃣ Add sauce and seasoning: Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.
5️⃣ Toast the buns: While the chicken simmers, toast the hamburger buns in a separate skillet or toaster until golden brown.
6️⃣ Assemble the sandwiches: Spoon the Cajun chicken mixture generously onto the bottom halves of the buns. Add your choice of optional toppings like sliced pickles, shredded cheese, or coleslaw. Place the top halves of the buns on top.
7️⃣ Serve: Serve hot and enjoy these flavorful, messy, and satisfying sandwiches!
