Garlic Bread Sloppy Joes

  • Author: Sophia

Description

Garlic Bread Sloppy Joes combine the rich, savory flavors of a classic sloppy joe with the irresistible taste of garlic bread. This easy and comforting dish uses Italian bread as a base, topped with a hearty ground beef mixture and melted cheese. The garlic butter spread on the bread adds a delicious kick, while the combination of mozzarella and cheddar cheese creates the perfect melt. These sloppy joes are ideal for a casual dinner, game day snack, or any time you crave a warm, cheesy meal.

Ingredients

Scale

1 loaf Italian bread
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 pound ground beef
1/4 cup yellow onion, chopped
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
3/4 cup ketchup
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup water
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Chopped parsley, for garnish

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Slice the Italian bread lengthwise into halves. Spread the softened butter mixed with garlic salt evenly on the cut sides of the bread.

In a skillet, cook the ground beef and chopped onions over medium heat until the beef is no longer pink. Drain any excess grease, then add garlic powder, mustard, ketchup, kosher salt, black pepper, and water. Stir to combine and simmer for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Divide the sloppy joe mixture evenly between the bread halves, spreading it out to cover the entire surface. Top with shredded mozzarella and sharp cheddar cheese.

Place the bread halves on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted.

Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

This dish is highly customizable! You can make it spicier by adding hot sauce or finely chopped jalapeños to the sloppy joe mixture. For an extra burst of flavor, try adding a drizzle of ranch dressing or barbecue sauce on top before baking. Leftover sloppy joe mix can be stored in the refrigerator and used as a filling for future sandwiches or wraps. For a healthier twist, you could substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.
