Notes
- Ingredient Variations:
- Peanut Butter: You can use either creamy or crunchy peanut butter, depending on the texture you prefer. For a smoother fluff, stick with creamy peanut butter.
- Marshmallow Creme: This is a key ingredient to achieve the fluffy texture, but in a pinch, you can use melted marshmallows as a substitute. However, this may slightly alter the texture and sweetness.
- Whipped Cream: Freshly whipped cream works best for a luxurious texture, but store-bought whipped topping can also be used. For a healthier option, Greek yogurt can be substituted for whipped cream.
- Sweetness Level:
- The marshmallow creme already provides a lot of sweetness, so powdered sugar is optional. Adjust the sugar according to your taste or omit it entirely if you prefer a less sweet version.
- Texture Tips:
- Be gentle when folding the whipped cream into the peanut butter mixture. Overmixing can cause the fluff to lose its light, airy texture and become dense.
- Allow the fluff to chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes after preparation. This helps it set and gives it a firmer, fluffier consistency.
- Storage:
- Refrigeration: Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. The fluff may thicken slightly as it chills.
- Freezing: You can freeze peanut butter fluff for up to a month, but the texture may change slightly upon thawing. Thaw in the fridge before serving.
- Serving Ideas:
- As a Dip: Serve with apple slices, strawberries, pretzels, or graham crackers for a fun party dip.
- As a Dessert Topping: Use as a topping for cupcakes, pies, brownies, or cookies.
- Parfaits and Layered Desserts: Peanut butter fluff works wonderfully as a layer in parfaits, trifle desserts, or even peanut butter pie fillings.
- Customizations and Add-Ins:
- Chocolate Chips or Cocoa Powder: Mix in some chocolate chips or cocoa powder for a chocolate-peanut butter twist.
- Flavors: Experiment with vanilla extract, cinnamon, or a drizzle of honey to enhance the flavor profile.
- Nutella or Other Nut Butters: For a different flavor, you can swap peanut butter with Nutella or almond butter.
