Description

This Philly Cheesesteak Pasta is a hearty, one-pan dish inspired by the iconic sandwich. Tender beef, sautéed peppers, onions, and garlic combine with creamy cheese and pasta for a comfort food classic that’s sure to please!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef or steak strips
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 12 oz pasta (penne or rigatoni recommended)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

1️⃣ Cook the Pasta:

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.

Add the pasta and cook until al dente, following package instructions. Drain and set aside.

2️⃣ Sauté the Vegetables:

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Add the diced green bell pepper, onion, and minced garlic.

Sauté for 5-7 minutes, until the vegetables are softened and fragrant.

3️⃣ Cook the Meat:

Add ground beef or steak strips to the skillet with the sautéed vegetables.

Season with salt and pepper.

Cook, breaking up the beef (if using ground) or searing the strips, until fully cooked and browned.

4️⃣ Make the Sauce:

Lower the heat and stir in the softened cream cheese and beef broth.

Mix well until the cream cheese melts into a smooth, creamy sauce.

5️⃣ Combine the Pasta:

Add the cooked pasta to the skillet. Stir to coat the pasta evenly in the creamy sauce.

6️⃣ Top with Cheese and Broil:

Sprinkle the shredded provolone cheese evenly over the pasta mixture.

Place the skillet under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

7️⃣ Serve:

Remove from the broiler, let cool slightly, and serve hot. Enjoy your cheesy Philly Cheesesteak Pasta!

Notes

  • Cheese Alternatives: Substitute provolone with mozzarella or a blend of mozzarella and cheddar for a different flavor profile.
  • Add Mushrooms: Sliced mushrooms make an excellent addition for a richer, more authentic Philly Cheesesteak flavor.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop with a splash of broth to maintain creaminess.
  • Steak Option: For steak strips, use thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin for the best texture and flavor.
