Easy Fried Cheese Bites

  • Author: Munil

Description

These crispy, golden fried cheese bites are perfect for a snack or appetizer. The gooey mozzarella center paired with the crispy Parmesan-breadcrumb coating makes for an irresistible treat that’s quick to whip up and easy to enjoy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

1️⃣ Shape the cheese: Take small portions of shredded mozzarella and press them into bite-sized balls or cubes.

2️⃣ Set up coating stations: In three separate bowls:

  • Bowl 1: All-purpose flour.
  • Bowl 2: Beaten egg mixed with milk.
  • Bowl 3: Breadcrumbs mixed with grated Parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

3️⃣ Coat the cheese: Roll each mozzarella ball in the flour, shaking off any excess. Then dip it in the egg mixture, and finally roll it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to ensure it’s fully coated.

4️⃣ Heat the oil: In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of bread into the oil—it should sizzle immediately.

5️⃣ Fry the cheese bites: Carefully place the cheese bites into the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary. Fry for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Be sure to turn them occasionally for even frying.

6️⃣ Drain and season: Using a slotted spoon, transfer the fried cheese bites to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. While still warm, season with a pinch of salt and pepper.

7️⃣ Serve: Enjoy these cheese bites hot with your favorite dipping sauce, like marinara, ranch, or spicy aioli.

Notes

  • Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent the cheese from melting too quickly.
  • For an extra flavor kick, you can add a bit of paprika or Italian seasoning to the breadcrumb mixture.
  • These can also be baked at 400°F (200°C) for about 10-12 minutes if you prefer a lighter option.
