Ingredients
- 12 ounces tortellini pasta
- ½ pound Italian ground sausage
- ½ medium yellow onion, diced
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ½ cup cooked chopped bacon
- 24 ounces pizza sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Sliced pepperoni
Instructions
Cook the tortellini according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the olive oil and sauté the diced onion until softened. Add the ground beef and Italian sausage, breaking them up as they cook. Cook until browned, then stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute. Season with Italian seasoning.
Drain excess grease and return the meat mixture to the skillet. Stir in the chopped bacon.
Add the pizza sauce and cooked tortellini, stirring to combine. Bring to a gentle simmer, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the dish, then layer with sliced pepperoni. Cover the skillet and turn off the heat, allowing the cheese to melt from the residual warmth.
Serve hot and enjoy this hearty, cheesy, meat-packed twist on a classic pizza.
Notes
- For extra spice, add crushed red pepper flakes or hot Italian sausage.
- Swap out mozzarella for provolone or a blend of Italian cheeses for extra flavor.
- Bake in a casserole dish at 375°F for 10 minutes for an even crispier top.
