  • Total Time: 25 minutes

Description

This Miso Butter Salmon recipe combines the rich umami flavor of miso with the silky texture of butter, perfectly complementing tender salmon fillets. Ideal for a quick weeknight dinner or an elegant meal, it’s versatile and pairs well with rice, noodles, or roasted vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Salmon:
    • 4 salmon fillets (6 oz each)
  • Miso Butter:
    • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
    • 3 tablespoons white miso paste
    • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
    • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger, grated
    • 12 cloves garlic, minced
    • 2 tablespoons green onions, sliced thin
  • For Garnish:
    • Additional sliced green onions
    • Sesame seeds

Instructions

1️⃣ Make the miso butter:
In a medium-sized bowl, combine softened butter, white miso paste, brown sugar, grated ginger, minced garlic, and sliced green onions. Use a spatula to mash the ingredients together until smooth and well incorporated.

2️⃣ Prepare the salmon:
Divide the miso butter evenly among the salmon fillets. Spread the butter over the entire surface of each fillet using a butter knife or offset spatula.

Cooking Methods:

Oven Method:
3️⃣ Preheat the oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange the salmon fillets in a large skillet or baking dish.

4️⃣ Bake the salmon:
Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the salmon is opaque and nearly cooked through.

5️⃣ Broil for caramelization:
Turn the oven to broil on high and cook for an additional 1–2 minutes, or until the top of the salmon begins to caramelize. Keep an eye on it to prevent burning.

Air Fryer Method:
3️⃣ Preheat the air fryer:
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Line the air fryer basket with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.

4️⃣ Cook the salmon:
Place the salmon fillets in the air fryer basket, ensuring they don’t overlap. Cook for 9–10 minutes without turning.

6️⃣ Finish and serve:
Transfer the cooked salmon to a serving platter. Drizzle any remaining miso butter from the pan or air fryer basket over the top of the fillets. Garnish with additional sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the salmon in the miso butter mixture for up to 30 minutes before cooking.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheated gently.
