Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (16 ounce) package chocolate candy coating or 1 (20 ounce) package chocolate almond bark
  • 6 cups Chex chocolate cereal
  • 1 cup Halloween themed sprinkles mix
  • 1 cup regular M&M’s Ghoul’s Mix
  • 1 cup peanut M&M’s Ghoul’s Mix
  • 1 cup Sun-Maid orange and black yogurt covered raisins (they come in mini boxes on the Halloween aisle or near the raisins) or Reese’s Pieces or more M&M’s Ghoul’s Mix
  • 2 cups Reese’s Puffs Peanut Butter Bats cereal or Count Chocula Halloween Cereal
  • 1/2 cup Harvest Candy Corn
  • 1 cup Mother’s Eerie Critters Frosted Cookies
  • 2 cups Utz pumpkin and bat shaped pretzels

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, add the Chex cereal.
  2. In a microwave safe bowl, or the container it comes in, melt the chocolate candy coating according to package directions, usually 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until melted and smooth. Be sure not to over melt the candy coating as it will burn and become too thick to stir and coat the mix evenly.
  3. Pour the melted candy coating over the Chex cereal in the large bowl and toss to coat with a large spoon. Cereal should be evenly coated in the candy coating.
  4. Spread the coated cereal in an even layer on a parchment lined baking sheet. Immediately sprinkle with the sprinkles and then the remaining ingredients.
  5. Allow mixture to cool completely. Break apart to serve. Store in an airtight container or baggie.

Notes

  • Customization Options:
    • You can easily tailor this recipe to fit dietary preferences. For a nut-free version, simply omit the nuts and add more sweet or salty components like crackers or dried fruit.
    • To make it gluten-free, use gluten-free pretzels, popcorn, and Chex cereal. For a vegan version, be mindful to choose dairy-free chocolates and vegan gummy candies.
    • The mix can also be adjusted for flavor preferences: increase the amount of chocolate or marshmallows for a sweeter mix, or add spicy crackers or chips for a salty or spicy kick.
  • Make-Ahead Tip:
    • This Spooky Snack Mix can be prepared ahead of time and stored in an airtight container for up to a week. It’s a great option for prepping before a party or event, ensuring you have a festive snack ready without any last-minute rush.
