Outrageous Snickers Brownies

Outrageous Snickers Brownies are the ultimate indulgence for any dessert lover, combining the rich, fudgy texture of classic brownies with the iconic caramel, peanut, and nougat-filled Snickers candy bars. These brownies elevate a beloved treat to a whole new level by blending two dessert favorites into one outrageous creation. The layers of gooey chocolate and Snickers chunks throughout the brownies create an irresistible combination of flavors and textures—every bite gives you the crunch of peanuts, the sweetness of caramel, and the richness of chocolate.

What makes these brownies “outrageous” is their extreme decadence and the surprise element of biting into chunks of Snickers hidden in the batter. This twist makes them fun and exciting for both kids and adults alike. With candy bars baked into every square, Snickers brownies offer a playful take on traditional brownies, which is why desserts like these have grown in popularity. Combining candy bars with baked goods has become a fun way to add a nostalgic yet modern twist to classic desserts, making them perfect for special occasions, parties, or simply satisfying your sweet tooth.

Ingredients for Outrageous Snickers Brownies

To make these delicious brownies, you’ll need a handful of simple yet essential ingredients. The base of the brownies is made from typical brownie ingredients:

  • Chocolate (either chocolate chips or baking chocolate)
  • Butter
  • Sugar
  • Eggs
  • All-purpose flour
  • Cocoa powder
  • Baking powder (for a slight rise)
  • Salt (to balance sweetness)

The star of the show, of course, is the Snickers candy bars. You can use either mini Snickers or regular-sized ones, depending on your preference. These will be chopped and mixed into the batter, or used as a layer for extra deliciousness.

Optional ingredients can further enhance the flavor. Some ideas include:

  • Chopped nuts (for extra crunch)
  • Caramel sauce (drizzled on top or swirled into the batter)
  • Additional chocolate chips (to increase the chocolate factor)

For those who prefer a slightly less sweet version, you could substitute the chocolate with dark chocolate, which will provide a richer, more intense flavor. The flexibility in ingredients allows you to personalize the brownies to your liking.

Tools and Equipment

To create these Outrageous Snickers Brownies, you don’t need any fancy equipment, but having the right tools can make the process easier:

  • 9×13 inch baking pan (the ideal size for even baking)
  • Mixing bowls (for wet and dry ingredients)
  • Spatula (for mixing and spreading the batter)
  • Sharp knife (for chopping the Snickers into manageable chunks)
  • Whisk or electric mixer (to combine ingredients thoroughly)

Using sharp knives is important for cutting the Snickers candy bars cleanly without causing too much melting or sticking. Having the right equipment ensures your brownies will turn out perfectly every time.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Preparing the Brownie Batter

Making the brownie batter is the foundation of this recipe. Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C) and preparing your baking pan by lining it with parchment paper or greasing it.

  1. Melt the chocolate and butter together in a heatproof bowl. You can do this in a microwave-safe bowl or over a double boiler. Stir until smooth and set aside to cool slightly.
  2. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar and eggs until the mixture becomes light and fluffy. This helps create the perfect brownie texture.
  3. Once the melted chocolate mixture has cooled a bit, add it to the sugar-egg mixture and stir until fully combined.
  4. In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Slowly add these dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as that can lead to tough brownies.

This process should leave you with a rich, thick batter that’s ready for its Snickers makeover.

Layering with Snickers

Now for the fun part—adding the Snickers! Here’s how to incorporate them into the batter:

  1. Chop the Snickers bars into bite-sized chunks. You can either use mini Snickers or cut up full-sized bars. Make sure the pieces are roughly the same size for even distribution.
  2. Pour half of the brownie batter into your prepared baking pan and spread it evenly with a spatula. This will serve as the base layer of your brownies.
  3. Scatter half of the Snickers chunks evenly across the batter. You can press them gently into the surface so they’re slightly submerged.
  4. Pour the remaining brownie batter over the Snickers layer and spread it evenly.
  5. Finally, add the remaining Snickers chunks on top, pressing them into the batter lightly. You can choose to leave some exposed for a more decadent, gooey finish, or cover them fully with batter for hidden candy bar surprises.

This layering process ensures that every bite of your brownies will be loaded with Snickers goodness.

Baking and Timing

Bake the brownies in your preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 30-35 minutes. Keep an eye on them as baking times may vary depending on your oven. You want the brownies to be set around the edges but still slightly gooey in the center for that fudgy texture.

To check for doneness, use a toothpick or cake tester. If it comes out with a few moist crumbs, your brownies are ready. Avoid overbaking, as this can result in dry brownies. Once done, remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool in the pan for about 15-20 minutes before cutting into squares. Cooling will make them easier to slice and allow the flavors to set.

Cutting and Serving Tips

Cutting these rich brownies can be tricky, but with the right technique, you can achieve clean slices. For best results:

  1. Use a sharp knife and wipe it clean between cuts to prevent the gooey chocolate and Snickers pieces from sticking.
  2. For easier cutting, let the brownies cool completely, or refrigerate them for about 15-20 minutes to firm up the chocolate and caramel.

Serve your Outrageous Snickers Brownies on their own, or take them to the next level by adding a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of chocolate or caramel sauce. The mix of hot and cold makes them even more indulgent!

Outrageous Variations

If you’re looking to take your Outrageous Snickers Brownies to the next level, there are plenty of creative twists you can try to make this recipe even more decadent:

  1. Peanut Butter or Caramel Swirl: For an added layer of richness, swirl peanut butter or caramel sauce into the brownie batter before baking. Simply drop spoonfuls of the spread on top of the batter and use a knife to create a marbled effect. This gives your brownies an extra creamy texture and flavor.
  2. Mixing in Additional Candy Bars: Why stop at Snickers? You can mix in pieces of other favorite candy bars like Twix, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, or Milky Way for an even more indulgent treat. These additions add new textures and flavors, making every bite unique.
  3. Snickers Brownie Ice Cream Sundae: Take these brownies to the next level by serving them as part of an ice cream sundae. Warm up a brownie square, top it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, drizzle with caramel or chocolate sauce, and sprinkle with chopped nuts for an over-the-top dessert experience.

These variations let you customize your Snickers brownies for any occasion, making them even more outrageous and fun!

Storage Tips

To keep your Outrageous Snickers Brownies fresh, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days. If you want them to last longer, you can refrigerate them, which will keep them fresh for up to a week. For even longer storage, brownies can be frozen—wrap individual brownie squares tightly in plastic wrap, then place them in a freezer-safe container or bag. They will keep for up to 3 months. To reheat, microwave frozen brownies for 15-20 seconds or let them thaw at room temperature.

  •  cup peanut butter or almond butter

Instructions

Brownies

  • Prepare brownie batter according to package directions using a 9 x9-inch pan and cool the brownies completely.

Nougat Layer

  • In a medium bowl, combine the marshmallow fluff and the peanut butter with a rubber spatula or hand mixer until well blended.

Candy Bar Chocolate Layer

  • Melt the chocolate chips and peanut butter in the microwave and stir every 30 seconds until smooth and melted and whisk until well incorporated.
  • Pour chocolate layer over nougat layer and let brownies layers set before cutting them.

Notes

  • Customizing the Candy:
While Snickers bars are the star of this recipe, feel free to get creative with other candy bars! Twix, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, or even Kit-Kats can be swapped in for a new flavor experience. Mixing different candy bars can also add a fun twist.
  • Keeping Snickers Chunks Intact:
To ensure the Snickers pieces don’t melt too much in the brownies, you can freeze the Snickers chunks for 10-15 minutes before folding them into the batter. This helps them hold their shape during baking and ensures that each piece offers a perfect bite of Snickers goodness.
  • Brownie Texture:
For those who prefer a more fudgy brownie, be sure to avoid overbaking. The brownies should be set around the edges but still slightly gooey in the center. If you prefer a more cake-like texture, bake them a few minutes longer.
  • Serving Suggestions:
These brownies are delicious on their own, but for an extra indulgent dessert, serve them warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel or chocolate sauce. They also make a fun dessert bar option for parties or potlucks.
  • Storage Tips:
Store these brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days. You can also refrigerate them for longer freshness or freeze individual squares for a quick dessert any time. To reheat frozen brownies, microwave for 15-20 seconds to restore their fudgy texture.
  • Boxed Brownie Mix Option:
If you’re pressed for time or prefer a shortcut, you can use a boxed brownie mix. Follow the package instructions and simply fold in the chopped Snickers chunks or layer them in for a quick and easy version of this recipe. This option provides the same great taste with less prep time.
